Foreign Investment for Golestan 2 Project Approved

TEHRAN, July 28 (Mehr News Agency) – The Economy Council approved using foreign credit facilities to implement Golestan 2 project, the public relations department of Management and Planning Organization (MPO) announced here Sunday.

The project aims to prevent damage to property in case of flooding and provide for 36 million cubic meter of water, to irrigate 4000 hectares of land belonging to Gonbad and Kalaleh in Mazandaran Province.  

 

The project requires construction of a dam, establishing an irrigation network, fencing, and related equipment to achieve the stated objectives which would create 2000 jobs after its completion.

 

The council also agreed to the Energy Ministry’s request to design and build a tunnel for carrying drinking water to the southern city of Kerman, Kerman Province, in a joint venture with a foreign company.

 

The tunnel is 64 kilometers in length and 3 meters in diameter, transferring water at a rate of 4 cubic meters per second.
